Staff Accountant – Income Audit
Location: Panama City Beach, FL
Position Type: Full-Time, Temp with possible Temp-to-Hire
Rate: Starting at $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Summary
The Staff Accountant – Income Audit supports accounting and revenue verification for hospitality operations to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of daily financial activity. This role performs income audit procedures, prepares journal entries, and reconciles cash and credit card transactions. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical skills who can identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls within a fast-paced environment. This is a temporary role with the opportunity to transition into a permanent staff role.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Revenue Audit: Review, reconcile, and balance daily revenue activity from multiple systems and outlets to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Financial Posting: Prepare and post journal entries regarding cash activity, credit card settlements, chargebacks, and revenue adjustments.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts on a timely basis, researching variances or operational shortages.
  • Month-End Support: Assist with the month-end close process and prepare financial schedules or account analyses for auditors.
  • Operational Collaboration: Partner with property management and operational teams to resolve chargebacks and improve the efficiency of the revenue cycle.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain organized audit trails and ensure all activities meet company accounting policies and GAAP requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of accounting experience is required. Previous experience in hospitality accounting or income audit is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
    • Experience with ERP systems and hospitality POS/Property Management Systems (e.g., Opera, MICROS, Shopify) is a plus.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.

Physical Requirements & Environment

  • Environment: Professional office setting; position is not eligible for remote work.
  • Demands: Extensive computer usage; ability to remain seated for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
