ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is for a professional electrician with experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power, lighting, and communication systems. Work will include electrical troubleshooting, wiring, repairs, and installation across a variety of systems and facilities. A general understanding of HVAC systems and operations is also helpful.
This role may also be called upon during emergency or severe weather situations to assist with facility preparation and repairs before, during, and after storms or other critical events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and install wiring, equipment, and fixtures such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers, and controllers following blueprints and schematics.
Inspect and maintain electrical systems and fixtures to ensure compliance with all safety and code standards.
Test circuits and equipment using tools like voltmeters and ohmmeters.
Perform electrical and telecommunications work for new construction, renovations, and routine maintenance.
Estimate materials and costs for projects and plan ahead to avoid system downtime.
Assign and schedule work for electrical and HVAC team members as needed.
Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory of electrical materials.
Enforce safety procedures and train others in proper work methods.
Keep accurate time and material records and communicate effectively with leadership.
Respond quickly to electrical emergencies to keep operations up and running.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and building maintenance.
Skilled with electrical testing tools and hand/power tools.
Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Knowledge of building codes, safety procedures, and industry standards.
Capable of working at heights and in outdoor conditions.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable working in physically demanding environments and variable weather.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
5+ years of experience as a journeyman electrician preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Florida Class B CDL with air brake endorsement preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
Equivalent combinations of experience and training may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Occasionally: Lift/carry 25+ lbs., push/pull 26+ lbs., climb, crawl, or sit for extended periods.
Frequently: Twist/turn, reach overhead, drive, and operate electrical equipment.
Constantly: Lift/carry up to 25 lbs., stand, walk, and use hand tools or fine motor skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work may take place indoors and outdoors year-round.
Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and heavy equipment.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
Safety procedures must be followed at all times.
