Position: Senior Accountant
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm
Pay: $65,000 to $75,000/year DOE
Attire: Business Casual

A senior accountant is a professional who plays a crucial role in the financial management of an organization. They are responsible for maintaining general ledger account balances in conformity with GAAP. Prepares accurate monthly financial reports and accounting summaries. Examines accounting documents for accuracy and ensures compliance with internal control policies and procedures and accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with management to develop budgets and forecasts, monitor actual performance against targets, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions. Monitor and analyze variances and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making. Identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and recommend strategies for improving financial performance.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Conduct periodic audits to assess control effectiveness.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. Stay updated on tax developments and advise management on tax planning strategies.
  • Team Management: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development. Review their work for accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate and support external audits, liaising with auditors, preparing audit schedules, and addressing audit inquiries. Implement audit recommendations to improve accounting processes and controls.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4 to 6 years of accounting or finance experience required
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant accounting regulations. Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) may be required for multinational companies
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to accounting and compliance.
  • Knowledge of internal control procedures and regulations.
  • Good analytical and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including strong excel skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting software required, Oracle based JDEdwards General Ledger System and Insight Unlimited reporting tool preferred.
  • Ability to organize and manage projects.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
